Horncastle Education Trust

We're Consulting!

We have some exciting proposals for change, take a look at the details below and be sure to share your views.

Dear Parents, Carers, Friends and Community Stakeholders of Pupils at Frithville & New York Primary Schools,

We are writing to share two proposals and invite your comments about how we maintain and continue to improve the education offered to the communities of Frithville and New York.  Within our trust, young people are at the heart of decision making and we aim to ensure that pupils receive the best possible educational experience and we prepare them well for the next stage of their journey.

The current educational landscape means that our two rural primary schools, Frithville and New York, are facing a number of challenges; low and falling pupil numbers, capacity to deliver the breadth of educational and enrichment experiences we aspire to and that pupils deserve, and financial pressures resulting from national strategies.

Since the formation of our trust, we have been closely involved with both schools, worked with the leadership team and governors, heard thoughts from colleagues and listened to parental feedback, through comments to school and during parent forums, there are a number of factors which lead us to believe that amalgamation would allow us to serve your communities better.

We are also aware that nationally there is a shortage of places for pupils who need additional support outside of a mainstream school setting in order to overcome barriers, access education and achieve their potential. This is known as Alternative Provision.  We are committed to serve all young people well and this is an area where we know we can make a difference to families where these challenges exist.

Our Proposals:

We are asking you to consider a proposal for change which comprises of two elements:

  • The Amalgamation of Frithville & New York Primary Schools.
  • The creation of an Alternative Provision facility.
